Water Power-Rankings
I know you likely came here expecting me to trash ‘Dasani’ and boast about how great ‘Essentia’ is, but that’s not what this is about. While the online war against specific brands of water rages on (not realizing that 90% of it is just marketing convincing you that your water choice is better) [Other 10% is there is an elite-tier of bottled water], I have come to shed light on more important water-based arguments. I am looking to cool off the branded water debate and heat up the argument of water temperatures; cold vs. hot vs. warm.
3. Hot: Hot water is a staple for a variety of things from jacuzzis to coffee, but it still ranks lowest on my water rankings. Rarely does a scolding hot shower ever sound ideal. Anytime I shower and the water gets too hot, I am left in this miserable state where I’m not sure if I need to get skin grafts afterwards. Also, there’s nothing worse than running errands in the summer heat, finding a 528 degree water bottle in the backseat and having to settle for that. I will miss hot coffee and teas (made with hot water), but there are other ways to consume both. Also, washing dishes may become a tad more difficult, but that’s where #2 on the power-rankings will become the saving grace.
2. Warm (EDIT:WARM/ROOM-TEMP): My ideal shower preference. I shower most days, so it’s important to have this one ranked higher than hot. Warm will also make up for lack of heat consumptions and will be just enough to heat me up on colder fall/winter mornings. Unfortunately, not the most refreshing when thirsty. Nothing particularly great about warm water, but it gets the job done in a large variety of aspects.
1. Cold: The irony of cold being on such a dominant hot-streak is not something to shrug at. Cold water has been there to absolutely dominate the thirst quenching scene every step of the way. Getting to understand the pure brilliance of cold-brewed coffees and varieties of cold teas is life-altering stuff in adolescence. Cold pools and the ocean become tolerable after a couple of minutes and can even be more refreshing on really hot days. Ice baths have been there to tame injuries and help recovery processes. Cold water will have an incredibly tough time being knocked from this power-ranking, but we may have to revisit in a later blog when the seasons change.
